How to Apply
To be eligible for scholarship consideration at Boise State University, students must meet the following criteria:
CURRENT STUDENTS
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.00 and plan to enroll in 12 or more credits.
- Submit Supplemental Scholarship Application by March 15th.
- Check our department/college scholarship application page for additional information. (Note: not all departments have an application).
- Submit FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)by March 15th to be considered for need-based scholarships.
- Review the State of Idaho scholarships if you are an Idaho resident.
- Check out the Scholarship Policies for different guidelines regarding your scholarships.
- Check out any other BSU Scholarship Applications available as well as any Private Scholarships currently advertised.
NEW FRESHMAN/TRANSFER
- Complete the Admissions process. A completed application for admission consists of:
1) the Admission Application
2) $50 non refundable, one-time application fee
3) official high school (or GED score) and/or official college transcripts
4) Official ACT or SAT scores if the student is under 21 years of age.
5) If the student received college credit through a concurrent enrollment program while in high school the student will also need to submit official transcripts from each college or university where they have earned credit. All materials must be received no later than February 15th. - Have a minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of a 3.00 and plan to enroll in 12 or more credits. ACT and/or SAT scores are also considered in the scholarship selection process.

Specialized Student Groups
We have a few scholarship programs available to a select group of Boise State students. Please read the information below for instructions on those programs.
National Merit Finalists
- Boise State University was a participant with the National Merit Scholarship program but is no longer recruiting new students for the program. However, Boise State supports and promotes National Merit Finalists on our campus via our general scholarship program. You should review the "How to Apply" checklist (listed above) to see how you may be eligible for scholarship consideration.
Alumni Legacy Scholars
- Please complete the Alumni Legacy Scholarship application found on the Alumni Association website to apply for our Alumni Legacy Scholarship which is a four year, renewable scholarship available to the relative of a Boise State alumna or alumnus. The scholarship amount is equal to in-state fees during the fall and spring semesters. Application deadline is February 15th.
- To apply for the Alumni Legacy Stipend Scholarship, please complete the Supplemental Scholarship Application. The Alumni Legacy Stipend Scholarship is a separate award that is awarded to three alumni legacy students each year -- one from East Idaho, North Idaho, and South Central Idaho. Applicants must be a relative of an alum. Application deadline is February 15th.
If a student successfully completes this checklist they will be considered for scholarships. Notification of scholarship awards will begin in mid March.
