Applying for Aid

  • Take the PIN number you received from the government when you applied for aid last year.  Use that PIN number to apply on the web (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov).

  • If you have not received a PIN, go to the PIN web site to obtain one (http://www.pin.ed.gov).  Do that right away!   If you have to provide parental information on your application, your parents will also need a PIN number.  Get one for them right now.

New college students and new transfer students:

Scholarships  -  By February 15, 2008

  • Submit all admission materials (application, application fee, 6th or 7th semester high school transcript, college transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, etc.) to the Admissions Office.

  • File your FAFSA, if you want to be considered for need-based scholarships.

  • Submit the Supplemental Scholarship Application  to  the Financial Aid Office ONLY if any of the questions apply to your situation.

  • Check the Boise State scholarship web site  to see if your academic department requires a separate scholarship application.

  • For most Boise State scholarships, no scholarship application is necessary (you will automatically be considered if you complete the admissions material by February 15 and have a 3.0 GPA.)

Need based aid (work-study, Perkins Loan, campus-based grants) - By February 15 

  • File your FAFSA between January 1 and  February 15, 2008 

Continuing Boise State students:

Scholarships - By March 15, 2008

  • File your FAFSA, if you want to be considered for need-based scholarships.

  • Submit the Supplemental Scholarship Application  to the Financial Aid Office if any of the questions apply to your situation.

  • Check the Boise State scholarship web site  to see if your academic department requires a separate scholarship application.

  • For most Boise State scholarships, no scholarship application is necessary (you will automatically be considered if you have a 3.0 GPA.)

Other information:

  • If you need to provide other information for your need-based aid application, you will be notified in writing.  Be sure your mailing address is correct.  It can be updated on BroncoWeb.   If you do not respond to the request for other/additional information, processing of your financial aid application will stop.   As soon as you respond, we can continue processing your aid application and you strengthen your chances of receiving the best financial aid awards.    You must provide the needed information before you begin attendance or while you are attending classes during 2008-09; documents received after the end of your enrollment period may be received too late award aid.

  • If you need to make changes to your FAFSA information, use your PIN number to go to the FAFSA web site to make those changes.
