These deadlines apply to the regular academic year. Students enrolled in programs with earlier or later start dates may have other deadlines; it is your responsibility to ask about deadlines specific to your program. See the University calendar for other deadlines relating to admission, registration, and such.

Summer Sessions 2008

 
April 1, 2008 Deadline to submit the 2007-2008 FAFSA. If you file after this date, there is no guarantee that your summer financial aid can be processed in time to meet federal regulations.

Summer census date used to check credit load for Pell Grant, ACG, and SMART grant eligibility.

Credits finalized for Pell Grant payments. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline to be counted towards determining final Pell Grant amount for the summer term.

ACG and SMART grant recipients must be enrolled in 12 credits by this deadline for the summer portion of this aid to disburse June 14th.

Fall Semester 2008

January 1, 2008 First day you may complete a 2008-2009 FAFSA or Renewal Application for Fall 2008/Spring 2009 aid.
February 15, 2008 Priority Applicant Deadline for new freshmen and new transfer students to submit the 2008-2009 FAFSA to be considered for need-based scholarships and need-based aid. Last date for new Boise State students to submit Scholarship Supplemental Application for scholarships (most students do not need to do this form).
March 15, 2008 Priority Applicant Deadline for continuing Boise State students to submit the 2008-2009 FAFSA to be considered for need-based scholarships and need-based aid. Last date for continuing Boise State students to submit Scholarship Supplemental Application for scholarships (most students do not need to do this form). All students who have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of Fall semester will automatically be considered for academic scholarships.
March 18, 2008 Date by which FAFSA must be received and processed by the FAFSA Central Processing System for the best chance of receiving 2008-2009 grants, work-study, and loans.  Applicants who meet this deadline and who are selected for review or verification must submit all requested documents no later than June 1 to ensure aid is available in time to pay Fall fees.
March through Summer 2008 Electronic notification to students of 2008-2009 financial aid awards. Watch BroncoWeb and BroncoMail for notification.
June 1, 2008 Last day to submit documents for verification for 2008-2009 campus-based financial aid. On-time applicants (those whose financial aid applications were received by the federal processor by March 18) who submit supporting documents after this date will no longer be considered priority applicants.

This date is also the last day to be admitted for Fall semester in ensure financial aid will be available on time (assuming all other requested documents have been received).

June 30, 2008 New work-study hiring paperwork is needed for continuing work-study employees with a new 2008-2009 award before you continue working on or after July 1.
August 12, 2008 Deadline to electronically accept award notification and any other needed disbursement documents (promissory notes, debt counseling, etc.) to have financial aid available for earliest release of Fall balance monies (approximately August 21)
August 15, 2008 Earliest date that fall semester aid can be applied towards paying fall fees.
August 11 - September 9, 2008

 

Freeze on loan increases for Pell Grant recipients. Whenever possible, add credits before you drop credits so you may avoid a pre-mature refund...that later needs to be repaid.
August 20, 2008 Estimated date direct deposit or refund checks mailed for Fall financial aid.
August 21, 2008 Fee payment deadline for students registered for Fall semester.
August 22, 2008

 

Estimated date that summer grades become official and that Satisfactory Academic Progress can be checked for students with Financial Aid Holds.
August 25, 2008 Fall classes begin
September 8, midnight 2008

September 9, 2008 Estimated date for Perkins Loans, ACG and SMART grants to be disbursed.
November 3, 2008 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form for Fall semester
November 3, 2008 Last day to submit Special Conditions Form for Fall (if you are graduating at the end of Fall 2008).
November 18, 2008 Last day to request (in writing) a Direct Loan for Fall if you have already received a financial aid award notice, or to submit documents (tax returns, etc.) needed to complete your Fall 2008 financial aid application for a Direct Loan.
Early December,
2008
Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating Fall semester and have received a Ford Direct Loan at BSU. You will receive a letter or e-mail with information about what is required.
December 15, 2008 Deadline to complete a Master Promissory Note for loans to be released in December. After December 17, fall aid cannot be released until grades are checked and eligibility for fall aid is reconfirmed.
December 17, 2008 Last date for disbursement of fall aid, until semester grades are final January 7th.
December 18, 2008 Last day of finals.

Spring 2009

 
March 15, 2008 Priority Deadline to submit the 2008-2009 FAFSA to be considered for priority aid such as work/study funds, Perkins Loan, need-based scholarships, SEOG and LEAP grants.
October 1 Recommended date to submit 2008-2009 FAFSA/Renewal Application for Spring 2009 financial aid (if you have not already done so) in order to have aid available to pay Spring fees.
November 1 Last day to submit needed documents, along with having an acceptable admission status, in order to ensure aid will be available to pay Spring fees.
December 5 Admission deadline for Spring semester for degree-seeking students. You must be classified as a degree-seeking student to receive federal/state financial aid.
January 6 Date that fall grades are checked for Satisfactory Academic Progress conditions.
January 10 Date by which to accept Spring awards and to submit any other needed disbursement documents (promissory notes, debt counseling, and set up of direct deposit on BroncoWeb) to have financial aid available for earliest release of Spring aid (approximately January 14)
January 10 Date by which to submit direct deposit authorization on BroncoWeb for earliest disbursement of Spring financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account.
January 11 - February 3

January Recommended month to review the Financial Aid Scholarship web page to see if your academic department requires a separate scholarship application (and to check the deadline for submission.)

February 3 Disbursement date for Perkins Loans, ACG, and SMART Grants.
February 15 Last date for freshmen and transfer students to submit the 2009-2010 FAFSA/Renewal Application to be considered for need-based scholarships and the best types of need-based aid. Last date to submit Scholarship Supplemental Application for scholarships (most students do not need to do this application). 
March 1 Last date to submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal without In Progress grades for Spring 2009 aid. Between March 1 and April 1, In Progress Grades for each class must be include in appeals for spring 2009 aid.
March 15 Last date for continuing students to submit the 2009-2010 FAFSA/Renewal Application to be considered for need-based scholarships and for best types of need-based aid - grants, work-study, and Perkins loans.   Applicants who meet this deadline and who are selected for review or verification must submit all requested documents no later than June 1 to remain a priority applicant and to ensure aid is available in time to pay Fall fees.

April 25 Last day to request (in writing) a Direct Loan for Spring if you have already received financial aid, or to submit documents (tax returns, financial aid transcripts, etc.) needed to complete your Spring 2009 financial aid application for a Direct Loan.

May 10 Deadline to submit Spring-only Direct Loan promissory note.
May 14 Last date for spring semester aid to be disbursed until semester grades become official May 26th.
May 14 Last day of finals.
