FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS OFFICE

SCHOLARSHIPS - Non-Resident Tuition Assistance Programs:

Boise State University offers two merit-based tuition assistance programs for our non-resident students. If you are selected your residency status will not change. There is no application for these particular scholarship programs. For priority consideration, complete and submit all admission materials by February 15th for Fall 2008 entrance.


After February 15, or for Spring Semester admission, submit all admissions materials by the admission deadline for the semester you want to begin taking classes. Qualified individuals will be considered on a space-available basis.

Gem Scholarships

All students who possess an outstanding academic record, and who are not residents of Idaho are automatically considered for a Gem scholarship. This scholarship waives the total cost of non-resident tuition.

Students who meet the following criteria will automatically be considered.

Entering Students who are new freshmen with at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.

OR

New transfer students who have earned 14 or more semester college credits and have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA.

OR

New graduate students attending on campus who have at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA. Graduate students applying to programs requiring either the GMAT or GRE must have scores of at least 550 for the GMAT or 1,000 for the GRE (cumulative verbal and quantitative scores).

Western Undergraduate Exchange

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a merit-based program. It allows students from participating states to attend Boise State at a reduced out-of-state tuition.

This program is for entering applied technology or undergraduate students who:

Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Are residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.

Are interested in any of the 190 Boise State University fields of study open to WUE participants. Most programs are open to WUE students, only those that are over enrolled are closed to WUE participants. These include Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Radiology, Pre-Radiology, and some programs in the College of Applied Technology, which are determined on an ongoing basis.

 


Final Selection for the Gem scholarship and the WUE program is competitive.
Boise State may give preference to applicants in certain fields.

Applied Technology Programs:  Broadcast Technology, Computer Service Technology, Computer Network Technology,  Environmental Control Technician, Manufacturing Systems Technology, Drafting Technology, Electronics Technology, Semiconductor Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology

 

Graduate Programs: Biology MA/MS, Geology MS, Geophysics MS/PhD, Mathematics MS, Mathematics Education MS, Raptor Biology MS, Technical Communication MA,  Exercise and Sports Studies MS, Civil Engineering MS/MEngr, Computer Engineering MS/MEngr, Computer Science MS, Electrical Engineering MS/MEngr, Electrical and Computer Engineering PhD,  Instructional and Performance Technology MS(on-campus only), Materials Science and Engineering MS/MEngr, Mechanical Engineering MS/MEngr, Health Science MHS, Earth ScienceMS, MBA in Information Technology Management.

Renewal of Awards:

Recipients of WUE or Gem scholarships may qualify to have their awards renewed as long as they continue to make reasonable progress toward a degree and meet the minimum GPA and credit completion requirements.   Detailed renewal criteria can be viewed on BroncoWeb by browsing to "Accept/Decline Financial Aid" and clicking on the individual award.  Changes in residency status and major may affect certain awards

 

 

Gem Scholarships:  Completion of 24 credits during Fall/Spring semesters with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

 

 

Graduate Gem Scholarships:  Completion of 16 credits during Fall/Spring semesters with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

 

 

WUE Awards:  Completion of 22 credits during Fall/Spring semesters with a cumulative 2.0 GPA
