Budget Increase Information

The amount of financial aid a student can receive is limited by the "Cost of Attendance" which is often referred to as the budget. Standard budgets exist for resident and non-Idaho residents, as well as for students living with parents and not living with parents.

These budgets represent the average expenses for students attending Boise State, but can be adjusted for certain types of expenses incurred by an individual student. Increasing the budget may make a student eligible for more student loans, work-study funding, parent PLUS loans, or alternative loans.

Below is a list of different types budget increases with a link to the Printable Forms page or the appropriate form. In all situations, the amounts you provide must represent "out-of-pocket" expenses

• Computer Expense: Only 1 budget increase allowed during enrollment at Boise State

• Day Care Expenses: Pay close attention to documentation needed for ICCP and other assistance

• Child Maintenance Allowance: Possibility for independent students who have children ages 0-18 AND who have a zero (0) Expected Family Contribution.
  

• New Student Curriculum Fee: This is the one-time fee that new Boise State students incur the first semester in which they enroll.
  

• SHIP reimbursement: Budget increase occurs after the 10th day of the semester to make certain the student is keeping the SHIP insurance. Adjustments can be made one semester at a time.
  

• Special Conditions for Excessive Medical/Dental/Optical/Rx Expenses: Pay close attention to instructions regarding a letter explaining your circumstances and the written documentation that is needed.
