How to get summer 2008 financial aid...

Summer aid is unique from fall and spring semesters because
bullet

Aid is available only if you have not received all of your annual amounts during fall 2007 and spring 2008

bullet

It changes nearly every time you add and drop classes because there are so many combinations of sessions.

bullet

Some summer classes start before spring semester grades are "official," which delays disbursement of aid for sessions starting in May

bullet

Satisfactory Academic Progress is checked on all students after spring semester and before summer aid can be disbursed

bullet

The 2007-2008 FAFSA is used to determine summer 2008 aid eligibility

Summer aid is the same as fall and spring semesters because
bullet

Half-time enrollment is still 6 credits for undergraduates and applied tech students and full time is 12 or more credits

bullet

Graduate students need 5 credits for half-time enrollment and 9 credits for full time enrollment

bullet

Credit requirements for Pell Grants and for student loans are the same

Complete details and instructions are available by clicking here

Highlights include:
bullet About March 1, there will be a hyperlink for summer aid on BroncoWeb > Financial Aid where you can check your eligibility for summer aid.
bullet Students eligible for summer Pell Grants will have their Pell Grant and summer loans awarded automatically. You will still need to accept loans on BroncoWeb if you wish to receive them. (Plan on 4 weeks for processing)
bullet Your initial request for summer student loans is to be made through BroncoWeb. Request your loans ONLY AFTER you have finalized your summer class schedule!
bullet Other adjustments such as day care and transportation will still be requested on a form available on the financial aid web site.
bullet Students with classes starting in May have the option of requesting Short Term Loans through the Account Maintenance Office Rm. 209 Administration Building starting May 19th. Specific criteria must be met to qualify for these loans. Call 426.2134 for information.
bullet Summer work-study employees will need to be enrolled in 6 or more summer credits in order to earn their 2007-2008 funds through June 30, 2008.
bullet After June 30, work-study employees will need to have a 2008-2009 work-study award in place and will need to be registered in fall 2008 classes.
