At midnight on June 13th, your credits will determine the amount of your summer Pell Grant (and eligibility for ACG or SMART grants*)

The amount of your Pell Grant is based on the number of credits in which you are enrolled. June 13th is the "census date" when we take a snapshot of your enrollment.

You may need to repay some or all of your Pell Grant if...

  • you are enrolled in fewer credits than you were when your Pell Grant was disbursed to you...
  • you drop a class after the census date and before the class begins.

Expanded explanation of summer Pell Grant:

Your enrollment on June 13, 2008 will determine the final amount of your Summer term Pell award.

bullet Any credits added after June 13, 2008 will not apply towards your Federal Pell Grant eligibility.
bullet This applies to internships, workshops, and other classes, even if the University allows you to add these credits after June 13th.
bullet If you have added and/or dropped classes between the time your Pell Grant was disbursed and June 13, your Pell Grant will be adjusted accordingly, you may owe a Pell Grant repayment or you may receive an additional refund.
bullet Unfortunately, this federal regulation allows for no exemptions.  Thus, check BroncoWeb regularly to ensure your schedule of classes is accurate.

If you drop a class prior to its start, you may owe a repayment of Pell.

bullet Your Pell award is based on the assumption that you attend all of your enrolled classes.
bullet If you drop a class after June 13th, but before the class starts, your Pell award will be recalculated.  If your Pell award is reduced because of dropping a class, your student account will reflect the difference and will indicate whether you owe a Pell repayment. Allow 2 business days for the recalculation to occur.

As always, you must meet all other eligibility requirements.   Detailed information can be found at http://financialaid.boisestate.edu/eligibility.htm.

*  ACG and SMART Grants follow the same regulations as Pell Grants, except that you must be enrolled in 12 or more credits to be eligible for one of these grants. If you drop a class after one of these grants has been disbursed to you, but before the class begins, you will need to repay the ACG or SMART grant.
