Dates and Deadlines

These deadlines apply to the standard academic year. If you are enrolled in programs with earlier or later start dates, you may have other deadlines. It’s your responsibility to ask about deadlines specific to your program.

The university calendar has a comprehensive list of dates and deadlines.

  • Spring Semester 2019

    October 1, 2018Spring 2019 priority date to submit 2018-19 FAFSA to have spring financial aid ready to pay spring semester fees. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2018-2019 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed.
    October 1, 2018Scholarship priority date for new freshmen and transfer students. Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for automatic scholarships (Gem, WUE, Presidential, Dean’s, True Blue Promise Scholarship) for spring 2019.
    October 31, 2018New freshmen and transfer students for spring 2019 who are offered a Boise State scholarship will be notified by BroncoMail.
    November 1, 2018Last day to submit all requested financial aid documents (such as verification tax transcripts) to be eligible for spring 2019 work-study funding and supplemental grants (SEOG). Funding for these programs is limited and available only to priority aid applicants.
    Beginning mid-November 2018Electronic notification to new and transfer students of spring 2019 financial aid awards. Watch my.BoiseState, Student Center and BroncoMail for notification.
    November 15, 2018Priority admission date for spring semester for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants. All admissions materials are to be received by the Admissions Office by this date. Applicants who miss this priority date will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space available basis. Students who are ineligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
    December 18, 2018Submit direct deposit authorization by this date on my.BoiseState for earliest disbursement of fall financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account. Without direct deposit set up, any refunds will be sent as a check by mail.
    December 26, 2018Ideal date by which to finalize your spring class schedule to receive the fullest amount of your spring financial aid. Part-time students may begin to see aid reduced based on the level of enrollment prior to the first disbursement of aid.
    December 29, 2018Electronically accept aid and complete any financial aid To Do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note) by this date to have financial aid available for earliest disbursement of aid.
    January 4, 2019The earliest date that spring semester aid (scholarships, loans, grants) can be applied toward paying spring fees. Check your account at the end of the day today for disbursements. Allow 3-5 business days to receive refunds by direct deposit or 7-10 days to receive checks by mail.
    January 4, 2019Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for students enrolled during fall 2018. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of spring semester aid for those with SAP warnings, holds, or academic plans.
    January 2 – 31, 2019Freeze on loan increases, budget increases and special conditions requests.
    January 4, 2019Estimated date first direct deposit or refund checks received for excess spring financial aid.
    January 10, 2019Fee payment deadline for students registered for spring semester.
    January 14, 2019Spring classes begin.
    January 28, 2019 11:59 pmSpring financial aid census date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline. Only “financial aid eligible” credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility.
    March 1, 2019Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal without in-progress grades for spring semester.
    April 1, 2019Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal for spring 2019 financial aid eligibility.
    April 1, 2019Last day to submit Special Conditions form for review of spring 2019 financial aid.
    April 1, 2019Deadline to submit documents (verification tax transcripts, etc.) needed to complete your 2018-2019 financial aid application. Documents submitted after this date may be ineligible for student loans, but will still be evaluated for Pell Grant eligibility.
    April 15, 2019Deadline to complete a master promissory note for spring loans to be released.
    May 1, 2019Last day to request an additional Direct Loan for spring semester.
    Early May 2019Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating and have received a Direct Loan at Boise State. You will receive a letter or email with information about what is required.
    May 10, 2019Last day of finals.
    May 10, 2019Last date for release (disbursement) of spring aid.

  • Summer 2019

    DateEvent
    March 15, 2019Deadline to submit the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov for summer 2019 aid. If you file your FAFSA after this date, there is no guarantee that your summer financial aid can be processed in time to meet federal regulations.

    April 15, 2019Recommended deadline to finalize summer schedule

    June 11, 2019 11:59 p.mSummer Census Date: All credits are locked in by this deadline to be considered for summer Pell Grant and Direct Loans (federal student aid).
    June 15, 2019Last day for students to work using 2018-2019 work-study awards. New work-study hiring paperwork is needed for continuing work-study employees with a new 2019-2020 award before you continue working on or after July 1
    Two weeks before classes end or July 15, 2019Whichever date is earlier: Deadline to request summer loans.

    February 15, 20192019-20 FAFSA filing priority date for all students to be considered for priority aid and need-based scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov even if the priority filing date has passed to be considered for Direct Loans and Pell Grant.
    February 15, 2019Scholarship priority date for Idaho residents (new freshmen and transfer students). Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for 2019-20 automatic scholarships (Presidential, Dean’s, True Blue Promise Scholarship). Refer to our Idaho resident scholarships for specific eligibility criteria.
    February 15, 2019Complete the Boise State Scholarship Application.

    May 1, 2019Deadline for accepting 2019-20 Boise State scholarships.
    May 1, 2019Priority admission date for fall semester for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants. All admissions materials are to be received by the Admissions Office by this date. Applicants who miss this priority date will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space available basis. Students who are ineligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
    June 1, 2019Last day to submit all requested financial aid documents to be eligible for 2019-20 work-study funding and supplemental grants (SEOG). Funding for these programs is limited and available only to priority aid applicants.
    July 1, 2019First date students may begin earning 2019-20 work-study funds if enrolled in at least six credits for fall semester.
    July 15 – Sept. 9, 2019Freeze on processing special conditions and budget increase requests. No counselor appointment time.
    August 12, 2019Electronically accept aid and complete the following financial aid to-do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note) by this date to have financial aid available for earliest release (disbursement) of aid.
    August 12, 2019Submit direct deposit authorization by this date on myBoiseState for earliest disbursement of fall financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account.

    August 12 – Sept. 12, 2019Freeze on Direct Loan increases to existing disbursed aid due to enrollment level requirements for aid. Finalize your class schedule early to ensure you have the aid you expect.
    August 22, 2019Estimated date first direct deposit or refund checks received for excess fall financial aid.
    August 24, 2019Fee payment deadline for students registered for fall semester.
    August 26, 2019Fall classes begin.
    August 28, 2019Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for students enrolled during summer 2019. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of fall semester aid for those with SAP warnings, holds, or academic plans.
    September 9, 2019 11:59 pmFall financial aid census date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline. Only "financial aid eligible" credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility.

Documents submitted after this date may be ineligible for student loans, but will still be evaluated for Pell Grant eligibility.
    November 15, 2019Last day to request an additional Direct Loan for fall semester only.
    Early December 2019Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating fall semester and have received a Direct Loan at Boise State. You will receive a letter or email with information about what is required.
    December 17, 2019Deadline to complete a master promissory note for loans to be released in December. After December 20, fall aid cannot be released until grades are checked and eligibility for fall aid is reevaluated.
    December 20, 2019Last date for disbursement of fall aid until semester grades are final.
    December 20, 2019Last day of finals.
