Dates and Deadlines

These deadlines apply to the standard academic year. Students enrolled in programs with earlier or later start dates may have other deadlines; it is your responsibility to ask about deadlines specific to your program. See the University calendar for other deadlines relating to admission, registration, and more.


  • Spring Semester 2016

    Date Events
    March 15, 2015 2015-2016 FAFSA Priority Date to be considered for the maximum amount of aid. Some financial aid is limited to Priority FAFSA Applicants, including work-study funding, supplemental grants, and Perkins Loans. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2015-2016 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed because federal financial aid will still be awarded to eligible students.
    October 1, 2015 For new and incoming transfer students for spring 2016: Complete the Admissions process by October 1st in order to be considered for scholarships. Submit FAFSA to Boise State.
    November 1, 2015 Last day to submit needed financial aid documents, along with having an acceptable admission status, in order to ensure aid will be available to pay Spring fees before the fee payment deadline.
    November 15, 2015 Priority admission date for Spring semester undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants. Applicants who miss this priority date will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space available basis. Students who are ineligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
    December 5, 2015 Last day for spring semester graduate, degree-seeking applicants to have all admission materials received by Graduate Admission and Degree Services.
    January 1, 2016 Electronically accept award notification and complete any Financial Aid To Do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note) by this date to have financial aid available for the earliest disbursement of aid.
    January 2, 2016 Submit direct deposit authorization on my.boisestate for earliest disbursement of Spring financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account.
    January 1, 2016 Finalize your spring semester class schedule by this date to receive the fullest amount of your spring financial aid. Part-time students may begin to see aid reduced based on level of enrollment prior to the first disbursement of aid.
    January 2 – January 27, 2016 Freeze on Pell Grant and loan increases to existing disbursed aid due to enrollment level requirements for aid. Whenever possible, add credits before you drop credits so you may avoid a pre-mature fee refund that later needs to be repaid.
    January 4, 2016 Earliest date financial aid will be applied towards paying spring semester fees. Allow 3-5 business days to receive refunds.
    January 5, 2016 Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for all students enrolled during Fall 2015. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of spring semester aid.
    January 7, 2016 Estimated date first direct deposit or spring financial aid refund checks will be received students.
    January 7, 2016 Fee payment deadline for students registered for Spring semester.
    January 11, 2016 Spring classes begin
    January 17 – February 10, 2016 Recommended dates for you to review the Financial Aid Scholarship web page to see if your academic department requires a separate scholarship application (and to check the deadline for submission.)
    January 25, 2016 11:59 p.m. Spring Financial Aid Census Date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline. Only “financial aid eligible” credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility. Financial aid may be increased or decreased following this date if your enrollment has changed since the first aid disbursement for the semester.
    February 15, 2016 2016-2017 FAFSA Filing Priority Date for new freshmen and transfer students to be considered for need-based scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2016-2017 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed because federal financial aid will still be awarded to eligible students.
    February 15, 2016 Scholarship Priority Deadline for new freshmen and transfer students. Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for 2016-2017 scholarships.   Last date for new Boise State students to submit Boise State Scholarship Application.
    March 1, 2016 Last date to submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal without In Progress grades for Spring 2016 aid. Between March 1 and April 1, In Progress Grades for each class must be include in appeals for spring 2016 aid.
    March 15, 2016 Scholarship Deadline for continuing Boise State students to submit the 2016 -2017 FAFSA to be considered for need-based scholarships. Last date for continuing students to submit Boise State Scholarship Application. All students who have at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of Fall semester will be automatically considered for academic scholarships.

    Mid March Notification of Boise State 2016-2017 scholarship results begins.
    April 1, 2016 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form, with In Progress Grades, for Spring 2016 aid
    April 1, 2016 Last day to submit Special Conditions Form for Spring.
    April 1, 2016 Target date to submit documents (verification tax transcripts, etc.) needed to complete your Spring 2016 financial aid application for students enrolled. Documents submitted after this date may be ineligible for student loans, but will still be evaluated for Pell Grant eligibility.
    April 15, 2016 Last day to request an additional Direct Loan for spring semester.
    Late April Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating Spring semester and have received a Ford Direct Loan at Boise State. You will receive a letter or e-mail with information about what is required.
    April 30, 2016 Deadline to submit Spring-only Direct Loan promissory note.
    May 6, 2016 Last date for spring semester aid to be disbursed until semester grades become official.
    May 6, 2016 Last day of finals.

  • Summer Sessions 2016

    Date Event
    March 15, 2016 Deadline to submit the 2015-2016 FAFSA. If you file after this date, there is no guarantee that your summer financial aid can be processed in time to meet federal regulations.
    March 15, 2016 Earliest date that registered summer students may request summer loans via my.boisestate > Student Center > Finances > Request Summer Loans.
    April 15, 2016 Recommended deadline to finalize summer schedule.
    mid-April Earliest notification of summer financial aid awards.
    May 30, 2016 Estimated date for first summer aid to be credited to students’ my.boisestate accounts for those in the 1st 3-week session. Satisfactory Academic Progress review of official Spring 2016 grades to be completed by this date.
    June 8, 2016 11:59 p.m. Summer Census Date: Credits are locked for Pell Grant and budget purposes. All credits must be in place by this deadline to be considered for summer Pell Grant amounts.
    June 19, 2016 New work-study hiring paperwork is needed for continuing work-study employees with a new 2016-2017 award before you continue working on or after July 1.
    Two weeks before classes end or July 15, 2016 Whichever date is earlier: Deadline to request summer loans.

    January 1, 2016 The first day you may complete a 2016 -2017 FAFSA for Fall 2016/Spring 2017 aid.
    February 15, 2016 2016-2017 FAFSA Filing Priority Date for new freshmen and transfer students to be considered for priority aid and need-based scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2016-2017 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed to be considered for Direct Loans and Pell Grant.
    February 15, 2016 Scholarship Priority Deadline for new freshmen and transfer students. Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for 2016-2017 scholarships (Dean’s, President’s, GEM, WUE).   Last date for new Boise State students to submit Boise State Scholarship Application.
    March 15, 2016 Scholarship Deadline for continuing Boise State students to submit the 2016-2017 FAFSA to be considered for need-based scholarships. Last date for continuing Boise State students to submit Boise State Scholarship Application.
    March 15, 2016 2016-2017 FAFSA Priority Date for continuing students to be considered for priority aid (including work study, supplemental grants, and Perkins loans). Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2016-2017 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed to be considered for Direct Loans and Pell Grant.
    Beginning mid-March 2016 Electronic notification to students of 2016 -2017 financial aid awards. Watch my.boisestate > Student Center and BroncoMail for notification.
    May 1, 2016 Deadline for accepting 2016 -2017 Boise State scholarships offered on my.boisestate > StudentCenter > Accept/Decline Awards screen.
    May 1, 2016 Deadline for accepting priority aid offered on my.boisestate > StudentCenter > Accept/Decline Awards screen. This includes Perkins loans and work-study funding.
    May 15, 2016 Priority admission date for Fall semester for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants. All admissions materials are to be received by the Admissions Office by this date. Applicants who miss this priority date will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space available basis. Students who are ineligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
    June 1, 2016 Last day to submit all requested financial aid documents to retain 2016-2017 work-study funding, supplemental grants (SEOG), and Perkins loans. Funding for these programs is limited/ these awards may be cancelled if documents are received after June 1.
    June 20, 2016 New work-study hiring paperwork is needed for continuing work-study employees with a new 2016-2017 award before you continue working on or after July 1.
    July 1, 2016 First date students may begin earning 2016-2017 work-study funds if enrolled in at least 6 credits for fall semester.
    August 8, 2016 Electronically accept award notification and complete any Financial Aid To Do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note, Perkins Loan items and Financial Literacy online course) by this date to have financial aid available for earliest disbursement of aid.
    August 8, 2016 Submit direct deposit authorization by this date on my.boisestate for earliest disbursement of Fall financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account.
    August 8, 2016 Ideal date by which to finalize your fall class schedule to receive the fullest amount of your fall financial aid.  Part-time students may begin to see aid reduced based on  level of enrollment prior to the first disbursement of aid.
     August 12 , 2016 The earliest date that fall semester aid can be applied towards paying fall fees. Check your account at the end of the day today for disbursements. Allow 3-5 business days to receive refunds.
    August 15, 2016 Last date to submit a Scholarship Special Consideration request for the Fall 2016.
    August 12 – September 9, 2016 Freeze on Pell Grant and loan increases to existing disbursed aid due to enrollment level requirements for aid. Finalize your class schedule early to ensure you have the aid you expect.
    August 18, 2016 Estimated date first direct deposit or refund checks received for excess fall financial aid.
    August 18, 2016 Fee payment deadline for students registered for fall semester.
    August 22, 2016 Fall classes begin
    August 24, 2016 Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for  students enrolled during Summer 2016. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of Fall semester aid for those with SAP warnings, holds, or academic plans.
    September 2, 2016 11:59 pm Fall Financial Aid Census Date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline. Only “financial aid eligible” credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility. Financial aid may be increased or decreased following this date if your enrollment has changed since the first aid disbursement for the semester.
    October 1, 2016 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form without In Progress Grades for fall semester.
    November 1, 2016 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form with In Progress Grades for fall semester
    November 1, 2016 Last day to submit Special Conditions Form for fall (if you are graduating at the end of fall 2016).
    November 1, 2016 Target deadline to submit documents (verification tax transcripts, etc.) needed to complete your Fall 2016 financial aid application for students enrolled fall semester only at Boise State. Documents submitted after this date may be ineligible for student loans, but will still be evaluated for Pell Grant eligibility.
    November 15, 2016 Last day to request an additional Direct Loan for fall semester only.
    Early December, 2016 Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating fall semester and have received a Direct Loan at Boise State. You will receive a letter or e-mail with information about what is required.
    December 12, 2016 Deadline to complete a Master Promissory Note for loans to be released in December. After December 18, fall aid cannot be released until grades are checked and eligibility for fall aid is reevaluated.
    December 16, 2016 Last date for disbursement of fall aid, until semester grades are final.
    December 16, 2016 Last day of finals.
