Dates and Deadlines

These deadlines apply to the standard academic year. If you are enrolled in programs with earlier or later start dates, you may have other deadlines. It’s your responsibility to ask about deadlines specific to your program.

The university calendar has a comprehensive list of dates and deadlines.

  • Fall Semester 2017

    Date Event
    October 1, 2016 The first day you may complete a 2017-2018 FAFSA for fall 2017/spring 2018 aid.
    February 15, 2017 2017-18 FAFSA filing priority date for all students to be considered for priority aid and need-based scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2017-2018 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed to be considered for Direct Loans and Pell Grant.
    February 15, 2017 Scholarship priority date for Idaho residents (new freshmen and transfer students). Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for 2017-18 automatic scholarships (Dean’s, President’s, True Blue Promise Scholarship). Last date for all students to submit Boise State Scholarship Application.
    Beginning mid-March 2017 Electronic notification to continuing students of 2017-2018 financial aid awards. Watch my.BoiseState > Student Center and BroncoMail for notification.
    May 1, 2017 Deadline for accepting 2017 -2018 Boise State scholarships and priority aid (work-study, Perkins loans) offered on my.BoiseState > Student Center > Accept/Decline Awards screen.
    May 15, 2017 Priority admission date for fall semester for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants. All admissions materials are to be received by the Admissions Office by this date. Applicants who miss this priority date will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space available basis. Students who are ineligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
    June 1, 2017 Last day to submit all requested financial aid documents to be eligible for 2017-18 work-study funding, supplemental grants (SEOG), and Perkins loans. Funding for these programs is limited and available only to priority aid applicants.
    July 1, 2017 First date students may begin earning 2017-2018 work-study funds if enrolled in at least 6 credits for fall semester.
    August 7, 2017 Electronically accept award notification and complete any financial aid to-do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note, Perkins Loan items) by this date to have financial aid available for earliest disbursement of aid.
    August 7, 2017 Submit direct deposit authorization by this date on my.boisestate for earliest disbursement of fall financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account.
    August 7, 2017 Ideal date by which to finalize your fall class schedule to receive the fullest amount of your fall financial aid. Part-time students may begin to see aid reduced based on the level of enrollment prior to the first disbursement of aid.
     August 11, 2017 The earliest date that fall semester aid (scholarships, loans, grants) can be applied towards paying fall fees. Check your account at the end of the day today for disbursements. Allow 3-5 business days to receive refunds.
    August 15, 2017 Last date to submit a Scholarship Special Consideration request for fall 2017.
    August 11 – September 9, 2017 Freeze on Pell Grant and loan increases to existing disbursed aid due to enrollment level requirements for aid. Finalize your class schedule early to ensure you have the aid you expect.
    August 17, 2017 Estimated date first direct deposit or refund checks received for excess fall financial aid.
    August 17, 2017 Fee payment deadline for students registered for fall semester.
    August 21, 2017 Fall classes begin.
    August 22, 2017 Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for students enrolled during summer 2017. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of fall semester aid for those with SAP warnings, holds, or academic plans.
    September 1, 2017 11:59 pm Fall financial aid census date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. All credits, including internship credits, must be in place by this deadline. Only “financial aid eligible” credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility.
    October 1, 2017 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form without in-progress grades for fall semester.
    November 1, 2017 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form with in-progress grades for fall semester.
    November 1, 2017 Last day to submit Special Conditions Form for fall (if you are graduating at the end of fall 2017).
    November 1, 2017 Target deadline to submit documents (verification tax transcripts, etc.) needed to complete your fall 2017 financial aid application for students enrolled fall semester only at Boise State. Documents submitted after this date may be ineligible for student loans, but will still be evaluated for Pell Grant eligibility.
    November 15, 2017 Last day to request an additional Direct Loan for fall semester only.
    Early December 2017 Complete exit counseling session if you are graduating fall semester and have received a Direct Loan at Boise State. You will receive a letter or email with information about what is required.
    December 12, 2017 Deadline to complete a master promissory note for loans to be released in December. After December 15, fall aid cannot be released until grades are checked and eligibility for fall aid is reevaluated.
    December 15, 2017 Last date for disbursement of fall aid until semester grades are final.
    December 15, 2017 Last day of finals.

  • Spring Semester 2018

    Date Event
    October 1, 2017 Spring 2018 priority date to submit 2017-18 FAFSA to have spring financial aid ready to pay spring semester fees. Students are strongly encouraged to submit a 2017-2018 FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed.
    October 1, 2017 Scholarship priority date for new freshmen and transfer students. Last day to have all admissions materials received in the Admissions Office to be considered for automatic scholarships (GEM, WUE, Presidential, Dean’s, True Blue Promise Scholarship) for spring 2018.
    October 31, 2017 New freshmen and transfer students for spring 2018 who are offered a Boise State scholarship will be notified by BroncoMail.
    November 1, 2017 Last day to submit all requested financial aid documents (such as verification tax transcripts) to be eligible for spring 2018 work-study funding and supplemental grants (SEOG). Funding for these programs is limited and available only to priority aid applicants.

    December 18, 2017 Submit direct deposit authorization by this date on my.BoiseState for earliest disbursement of fall financial aid to be deposited into your savings/checking account. Without direct deposit set up, any refunds will be sent as a check by mail.
    December 26, 2017 Ideal date by which to finalize your spring class schedule to receive the fullest amount of your spring financial aid. Part-time students may begin to see aid reduced based on the level of enrollment prior to the first disbursement of aid.
    December 29, 2017 Electronically accept aid and complete any financial aid To Do items (direct loan counseling, master promissory note) by this date to have financial aid available for earliest disbursement of aid.
    January 2, 2018 The earliest date that spring semester aid (scholarships, loans, grants) can be applied toward paying spring fees. Check your account at the end of the day today for disbursements. Allow 3-5 business days to receive refunds by direct deposit or 7-10 days to receive checks by mail.
    January 2, 2018 Anticipated date that Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review will be completed for students enrolled during fall 2017. SAP must be reviewed prior to disbursement of spring semester aid for those with SAP warnings, holds, or academic plans.
    January 2 – 31, 2018 Freeze on loan increases, budget increases and special conditions requests.
    January 4, 2018 Estimated date first direct deposit or refund checks received for excess spring financial aid.
    January 4, 2018 Fee payment deadline for students registered for spring semester.
    January 8, 2018 Spring classes begin.
    January 22, 2018 11:59 pm Spring financial aid census date – eligibility for financial aid determined by the number of credits registered on this date. Only “financial aid eligible” credits count towards enrollment level, scholarship eligibility, Pell Grant and loan eligibility.

    April 1, 2018 Deadline to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal for spring 2018 financial aid eligibility.

  • Summer Sessions 2018

    Date Event
    March 15, 2018 Deadline to submit the 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov for summer 2018 aid. If you file your FAFSA after this date, there is no guarantee that your summer financial aid can be processed in time to meet federal regulations.
    March 20, 2018 Earliest date that registered summer students may request summer loans via my.boisestate > Student Center > Finances > Request Summer Loans.
    April 15, 2018 Recommended deadline to finalize summer schedule.
    mid-April Earliest notification of summer financial aid awards. Watch my.BoiseState Student Center and BroncoMail for award notifications.
    Varies Financial aid summer disbursements (receiving aid) : see “receiving aid” on our summer website
    June 6, 2017 11:59 p.m. Summer Census Date: Credits are locked for Pell Grant and budget purposes. All credits must be in place by this deadline to be considered for summer Pell Grant amounts.
    June 16, 2018 Last day for students to work using 2017-2018 work-study awards. New work-study hiring paperwork is needed for continuing work-study employees with a new 2018-2019 award before you continue working on or after July 1.
    Two weeks before classes end or July 15, 2018 Whichever date is earlier: Deadline to request summer loans.

  • Fall Semester 2018

    October 1, 2017 The first day you may complete a 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov for fall 2018 and spring 2019 aid.
    December 15, 2017 Scholarship priority date for non-residents of Idaho (new freshmen and transfer students).
