We have received guidance from the Department of Education for students that are selected for verification in the 18-19 and 19-20 years. For these years our office can now accept 2016 and 2017 tax returns as acceptable documentation. These forms must be signed by the tax filer. Please submit any Schedule C, E, or F forms you may have as well. Tax Return Transcripts are still acceptable documentation.
If students or their parents need an IRS verification of non-filing letter, they must still first try and obtain one from the IRS. If they are unable to obtain one they can submit a signed statement saying that they did not file for the tax year and an explanation of why a non-filing letter could not be obtained.
Please remember to only submit these documents if our office is requesting them.
